Monster Wrangler

Agatha made her way to the marsh. She didn't go too far in and kept an eye for anything dangerous. But she enjoyed looking at the various bugs and insects. It reminded of her of the summers she would spend with her grandfather. Those were probably not going to happen anymore with her career taking off. But at least she could see the interesting bugs and write to him about them. Mr. Wiggles didn't seem to interested. The hotel bed was much softer. The room had temperature control. Was he some sort of savage? But it seemed to make Agatha happy, so he would tolerate it for now.

As she wanders through the marsh, Ashley catches sight of a strange length of woven reeds that seem to have been fashioned into some sort of snare. The crude trap is pinned to the ground with a muck-smeared iron stake, but fortunately, it's no longer active. There's no sign of whatever sprung the trap, other than the lower portion of a hoofed leg, which is still stuck in the snare. Flies buzz noisily around the rotting piece of meat.

"Mr. Wiggles, be careful. There might be more traps." The Kleeth hisses and glows various colors. "Oh. I know you're smart, I just worry about you. I don't want anything to happen to you." Mr. Wiggles is pleased by this. "Of course, once we get back, I'll give you a bath and feed you a nice lunch before the interviews."

Agatha warily gets a little closer to the trap, seeing if she could learn anything to improve her own.

The trap had clearly been out here for awhile, judging from its condition. The hoofed leg was dark in coloration, and the end of it is... melted, it looks like? Some of the woven reeds appeared to be partially melted as well.

Agatha tried to think of what could be out here. She wasn't particularly afraid. She doubted whatever found a free meal was still here. She was more curious than anything. She felt a little bad for the trapper. Set a trap only to have a wild monster steal a free meal.

From the way the flesh was dissolved, and the marshy environment around them, Agatha felt reasonably confident that a Chasma had killed whatever creature had gotten trapped in the snare. Or, more likely, a pack of Chasma, as the vicious, fly-like vermin tended to live and hunt in packs.

Agatha begins creating some Vermin Bait. "I'm sorry Mr. Wiggles, this is not for you. I had an idea. What if I catch a Chasma?" Mr. Wiggles does not like this idea. "Oh. Don't glow at me like that. You will ALWAYS be my best friend. Imagine the show the three of us could put together." Agatha sighs. "Besides, there will be times I have to work without you. I want you to have a friend to keep you company." Mr. Wiggles is still skeptical. "Besides, Chasma are smaller than you. They less. I bet you'll get more leftovers." Mr. Wiggles could see the advantage.

Agatha then https://orokos.com/roll/973468]creates a trap to set the bait. "Well, Chasma hunt in packs. We should probably scaddle for now."

Agatha will move to the outskirts more and check before she needs to go back and prepare for the interviews.

Agatha had carefully set the bait in the trap ensuring that it would work.

Near the edge of the marsh a juvenile Mycetar splashes and rolls around in the brackish water while a small boy tries to keep out of splash zone. "Morty be careful, you're supposed get clean not make me more dirty." He took several rapid steps back as waves crashed towards him then, seeing someone approaching lets out a firm command. "Morty stop!" and the monster sits obediently.

Before she returns, she sees a young man. "Oh. Hello there." Agatha is dressed in overalls and and a long sleeve shirt designed to keep the bugs from getting her and is a bit dirty after creating her Monster Bait and setting her trap. Dion may still recognize her as Ashlet Elles if he is a big pop music fan though.

Mr. Wiggles glows a friendly greeting of yellow and blue.

Coming from a small village in a swamp Dion doesn't immediately recognise the pop-star but when he see's her monster he jumps up in alarm.

"Th-that's Mr. Wiggles! That means you're Ashley Elle, I read about you in Monsters Weekly; you're hella famous."

Mr. Wiggles really likes this guy. He glows cascading pattern of yellow and blue even more brightly now. Clearly, this guy knows who the special one it.

Agatha gives him a big smile. "You recognized, Mr. Wiggles." She sees his color pattern. "He seems to like you. Ashley Elle is my stage name. Out here, you can call me Agatha." Not that she would be offended by being called her real name elsewhere. It's just she feels like she's off the clock out here. "What's your names?" She offers here hand, only to realize it is dirty and begins wiping it off on her overalls. "Sorry," she says slightly embrassed.

"Um, Dion, Dion Moore it's nice to meet both of you." He says shaking with an equally dirty hand and a smile. "Are you here for the tournament?" Morty trundled over to the group and peered out from behind the boy reluctantly.

Ashley nods. "Yeah. I'm entering a few tournaments before my tour begins. This is my first one. I've never actually battled before though. What about you? Are you going to be in it?"

"Yep, me and Morty came a long way for this; took a boat and everything." He said enthusiastically. "I want to go pro so winning something like this would be really big for me. I'm surprised someone with your fame is at a tourney this small, figured someone like you would be in the big time events."

"Incredible. I hope you get your dream, but I will do my best if we face off against each other." Agatha gives Mr. Wiggles a pat. "My managers wanted me to do one of the big events first but the record company wanted me do a few small events. They said it feels authentic." Agatha looks up at the sky thinking for a moment. "I guess it make sense. I'm famous for my music, not monster wrangling. It will be less embarrassing if I mess up too badly." She looks back to Dion and Morty. "Though I just want to have fun. I never got to do anything like this before."

A bobbing shape can be seen in the distance, its fat little body held aloft by two small, rapidly beating wings. It's just under a foot tall, with a fly-like body, huge, segmented eyes, and oversized forearms that are lined with sharp-looking blades. The monster lands near Agatha's trap and looks around, its head tilting first to one side, then the next as it scans the area.

Agatha notices and smiles. "It looks like my trap is working. I might be getting a new friend."

The Chasma slowly approaches the trap, and then in an instant, it snaps shut, pinning the monster to the ground. It immediately starts to flail about and slash at the trap with its blade arms in a frenzy.
