[Tournament R1] - Felix Lang vs Milo Whitewood (D2 EA)

Post by Mindshred » Thu Apr 06, 2023 9:48 am

The battle between Felix Lang and Milo Whitewood begins!

The monsters begin the battle 30 ft. from their Wranglers, and 20 ft. from each other.

Monsters gain 2 Rage at the start of each of their turns. Please post your monster's current Health and Rage, as well as distance from the opponent and current status effects, in each of your posts.

You may concede on your turn, and if you have the Overprotective Flaw, you must make your roll to avoid conceding when your monster becomes Bloodied (half health) and when it takes damage while Bloodied. If you have Overconfident, you must pass your roll to concede.

If your monster is damaged past 0 Health, the opponent makes an Injury Roll to see if your monster becomes Injured.

Suramu, Temprill
Df 2, Wp 2
Health 8/8
Armor 0 (1 if not Bloodied)

Charged Fists - After successful slam tech, targets become stunned 1.

Living Battery - When a character within 20ft would suffer electric damage from a tech other than this monster’s, damage reduced by 2 and this character gains 1 charge. Character may may spend charges instead of rage to enhance electric techs.

Tenacious - The first time each battle this character will drop to 0 it goes to 1 instead.

Swagger - When not bloodied this character gets +1 armor
Diva, Warwolf
Df 2, Wp 1
Armor 1
Health 6/6

Blood-Drenched Killer: This character does not heal from its Fang Techniques. Instead, for every Health it would heal from such a Technique, every enemy within 30 ft. becomes Frightened 1.

Energy Cannon: Choose a Cold, Electric, Fire, or Light Technique with a Rage Cost of 2 or less and a Range other than "Self." If this character is not Bloodied, it can use the chosen Technique normally.

Machine: This character cannot gain the Bleeding, Poisoned, or Sickened statuses. It does not breathe.

Pounce: When this character takes Movement Action, if it began its movement out of Melee and ended its movement in Melee with one opponent, that opponent must attempt a Difficulty 2 Agility Roll. On a failure, it becomes Prone.

Felix showed up to the battle shaking off his jitters as he and Suramu took their places "Hey you got this buddy. We've practiced a lot."

He nodded to his opponent as he prepared and the match started, Felix and Suramu didn't have any commands worked out so he just waited to see what the other monster would do.

On the other side of the tournament grounds Milo was patting Diva's back and talking excitedly to her. When it was time to begin he points to the starting area. "Off you go Diva. Fight hard and let's do our best!"

When the match starts Milo calls out a command. "Diva, Ice Ball!"

~

The Warwolf barks and darts back to gain distance. As it does the energy cannon on Diva's back lowers and charges, letting out a low hum. A chunk of ice shoots off toward the Temprill. It goes wide!

Suramu side stepped the ice ball from the warwolf "Great job!" Felix shouted "Now get em!"

Suramu charged full force at the warwolf covering the distance quickly. He closed in on the wolf but couldn't quite land a hit.

Milo follows the action. It was like each monster was jabbing at the other, testing their defences.

"Once more Diva - Ice ball!" Milo calls out.

The Warwolf runs out of melee and fires another bolt of ice at the Temprill. However, just like last time the shot isn't accurate.

"Focus Diva!" Milo shouts louder. The crowd watching the match seemed to have Diva all excited.

-----

Gain 2 rage. Move 30ft away from Suramu, horizontally (so, still 70ft from Felix). Suramu can't use the opportunity attack. Attempt Ice Ball:

The machine monster built for warfare might be making such assessments of defense but the temprill in front of it had a much more straight forward mind set. Smash.

"Come on Suramu you got this!" Felix shouted encouragingly. The small monster began to beat its chest and make whooping shouts as its muscles bulged and it looks like it literally grows a couple feel taller and a bit wider too.

With that it beats the ground and rushes the warwolf.

The ape-like monster was now much bigger and evidently much more dangerous by bulking up. That much was obvious. It looked fiercely intimidating. It had gone from smaller than Diva to towering over her in size.

Milo frowned as he once again signalled his monster to make some distance and try firing a large chunk of ice once more. This time with full focus. Third time's a charm? He hoped so. "Diva, Ice Ball - Focus Diva!"

It wasn't lucky. At all. The shot goes horribly wide and up, waaay up into the air. It lands with a heavy crash near the top of the wall and precariously close to the seating area. Ice shatters everywhere from the impact, including a fine mist of ice buffeting a few observers closest to the front. Thankfully it's harmless, but it's sure to have startled folks! It certainly startled Milo even as Diva begins charging her cannon for a fourth time.

Milo looks pained as he reacts in horror. "Diva, no! STOP!" He waves his arms up in the air and hastily signals concession to the match judge. It was one thing to be bad at hitting your opponent and another to be so inaccurate you nearly hurt someone. Was Diva too excited by being in the limelight and having so many people watching her antics? If that was it then she'd be in the dog house after this...

Felix frowned a little as their opponent conceded "while that's a bit....anti climactic." He says to himself. Maybe the kid's monster was having some issue with its targeting software or something.

Regardless he smiles to his monster friend and offers him a high five "Good job buddy!"
