That's bait (Day 3 Early Evening)

[Milo Whitewood]

Soon after the matches were over Milo had begun a trek to the grasslands to the south. He'd purchased some chow and he wasn't alone. It was time to make the most of the day! Luckily it was bright and warm. It had become even warmer away from the coast, but the temperature was beginning to drop. His coat was doing its job however and Diva didn't really mind the cold.

Cresting a ridge, there was a good view of the grasslands extending out in all directions.

"This seems a good spot huh?"

[Mindshred]

In the distance, a faint sound could be heard, almost like singing... but there weren't any words to the song, just odd sounds. It was actually a bit relaxing, and every so often, the sound would die off, only to be picked up by someone else far away.

[Ari]

Ari listened quietly for a moment. "Yes. This seems like a very good spot."

[Milo Whitewood]

"We have our own radio station." Milo joked goofily. He then hefts his backpack off and onto the floor. "Shall we try the beast or the brute monster bait?"

[Ari]

"We could try the beast bait first. I have a feeling the nappen will be much easier to lure."

[Milo Whitewood]

"Let's give it a go. If it's a Taichen we might have to drive it off... unless you would like to be around one?" Milo questions as he begins getting the beast bait ready.

"This is my first time mixing bait. I'm glad there are instructions."

It would be planted about twenty feet away, in the open, so it was easy to see.

After a little while, the wind shifts noticeably, and a small, chicken-like creature climbs up onto a rock a few dozen feet away to sniff at the air. Its three rails twitch anxiously behind it, and it flexes the long claws that it possesses in lieu of wings.

Milo nods a couple of times, glancing to Ari. "I thought it was likely. What do you want to do? Should we let it eat and try again?"

[Ari]

"Yeah, I think so." she nodded. "Do you want me to try?"

The Taichen lowers itself against the rock as its tails start to twitch and flick. The wind suddenly shifts, suddenly blowing toward the group, as if to give a boost to the Taichen's imminent pounce.

[Milo Whitewood]

Hopefully it was only going to pounce on the bait and eat it. Milo reached out to Ari to motion her back just in case. "Diva, guard." He points to a spot in front of them. It'd let the Taichen get to the bait unmolested, but if it approached the group it'd need to go through the Warwolf.

The Warwolf would move forward, charging its cannon and waiting.

[Ari]

"Llyan, get ready to distract it." Ari said.

[Mindshred]

The Taichen does, indeed, pounce upon the bait. It starts to tear it apart, with frequent glances toward the group to ensure that they're not moving closer.

"At least it'll be well fed." Milo states, sighing a moment later. "Shall we move somewhere else to try your bait?"

[Ari]

"That's a good idea." she nodded.

Slowly moving away from the taichen, she led them over a hill and into a small valley. Finding an open area she set her bait. Once set, she withdrew into the taller grass with the others.

"Well done." Milo comments when Ari had returned to their new spot after setting her bait. "If we're really lucky there might be more than one, but let's see what turns up. I'm a little excited."

After a little while, a fluffy monster with curled horns appears in the distance, slowly making its way toward the group. It slows cautiously as it draws near, its head moving from one side to the other as it sniffs the air.

[Ari]

Ari whispered quietly to Llyan. Agreeing to her request, the deluzo disguised herself as a young nappen. Together, they slowly approached the real one and Ari offered it a treat from her wrangler kit. Unfortunately, Ari may have been too eager and moved to quickly, spooking the poor creature.

The Nappen's eyes narrow suspiciously, and it takes a few tentative steps backwards from the pair.

Having signalled Diva to stay down and not approach, Milo moved to assist Ari. He took out a pleasant scent spray from his bag to aid in the effort to befriend the Nappen. Staying near Ari, he tries gently talking to the Nappen to reassure it.

"It's okay. We're friendly. Have some food."

He calmly motions to the monster bait for the Nappen to enjoy.

"You're alright. You're very fluffy. Stay here with us and eat. There, there."

His voice was mysteriously soothing for the wild creature, or so it seemed.
